BizTown, an educational initiative by Junior Achievement, immerses children in a simulated town environment where they develop business plans, work in diverse business settings, and participate in democratic processes like electing a mayor. Originally located at 307 Madison Ave, Memphis, the BizTown facility closed during the pandemic, but now undergoes transformation into the headquarters of ServiceMaster by Stratos. The original site hosted simulated offices of various Memphis businesses, with the new, larger facility accommodating a wider service area and introducing Finance Park to enhance financial education opportunities.
Community Impact
Since its reopening on January 20, 2023, the new BizTown facility has become a bustling hub, welcoming approximately 11,000 fifth-, sixth-, and seventh-graders annually. Here, students engage in hands-on learning experiences, assuming roles in local and national businesses like FedEx, First Horizon, and Amazon. BizTown seamlessly integrates classroom instruction with practical application, fostering skills in economic development, financial literacy, and business management, embodying Junior Achievement's mission to empower children with essential life skills.
